A Kirghiz mother from the Little Pamir region of Afghanistan combs the hair of her newly-washed daughter. Pamir is located beyond 4,000-m elevation, known as the “Roof of the World”. The weather and water in Pamir is extremely cold, and people need to boil the water of the glacier river before they can use to wash clothes or to wash themselves. So much labor is needed just to be clean.
