The festivities air in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif comes at full swing during the Naoruz New Year celebration. The main site of the celebration is the holy shrine of Ali in the city center. Pilgrims gather to offer their prayers. There are also some street artists performing theatrical plays, not only to entertain the pilgrims but also to remind them on the meaning of their spiritual journey.
