A schoolgirl from Tais studies in her classroom. Education facility is very limited in Papua New Guinea, as access to basic education is still unavailable for all students. In the village of Tais, there is only one school for the students and Grade 1 and Grade 2. The two classes are taught by only one teacher, who teaches simultaneously. The Grade 2 students have few chairs and tables, while the Grade 1 students study on the ground. Often the class is disrupted because of centipedes or spiders or snakes came into the class. When I asked this 12-year-old Grade-2 schoolgirl about her dream, she said she wanted to be a teacher, as she wants to educate the people of her village so that they at least have a dream.
