A boy observes the rats inhabiting the Karni Mata temple (a.k.a. the Rat Temple). There are approximately 20,000 black rats live here, and are revered by the worshippers. People travel great distances to pay their respects to the rats. Pilgrims bring food and milk to the rats, and eating food that has been nibbled on by the rats is considered to be a ‘blessing’.
