A silk factory worker in Margilan weaves silk thread to produce atlas textile. Margilan was an important town during the Silk Road and still preserves the tradition of manual silk production. It’s currently the largest manufacturing center of silk ikat. The process of ikat weaving in single direction produces the national design known as atlas, which is the most common design used in Uzbek women dress.
