Western Province is one of the least developed and the most isolated provinces in Papua New Guinea. As road is almost non-existent, the people have to rely on sea and river to travel in the province. The people of the southern coast of the province have to navigate the dangerous Arafura Sea, famous for its deadly waves. But the Sea is not only about waves and high tides. Even the low tides can be a major nuisance, as it blocks the path to the estuary. This group of men had to struggle to make the boat move across the dried sandbanks to reach the estuary, due to the somehow unpredictable timing of the low tides.
