As Sharia law was implemented in Aceh (the westernmost Indonesian province), all Muslim women should wear hijab to cover their head. This regulation gave a huge impact to the local wedding dress style, especially for the brides. The local Aceh traditional wedding dress had been since redesigned to suit the regulation. Meanwhile, the Western-style white bridal gown should also cover the whole body, use less transparent material, plus be combined with hijab, to make it ‘Islamic’ in their perspective.
