Ashgabat was a sleepy town in Karakum (“Black Sand”) desert. But after the breakaway of Soviet Union and the independence of the Central Asian republic, it gradually transformed into a city of grandeur marble buildings, thanks to Turkmenistan’s rich mineral deposits and the President’s unordinary vision.
