The mountain of Baba Tangi (6515 m) has been fantasized by many climbers. The snow crowned peak can be seen from four countries: Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and China. The first ascent was by Italian climbers in 1963. Due to wars in Afghanistan, the mountain has been inaccessible to climbers for decades. With the stabilizing of the country after the Taliban, the Wakhan Corridor region has seen increasing mountain climber traffic.
