Yak is a highly valued animal in the Afghan Pamir. Yak, with its sturdy body and gigantic size, is a reliable transport in the mountainous grassland. Yak milk is the most important food source for the nomads, as it’s also processed as cheese, milk cream, cooking oil, and butter. Yak meat is also a special delicacy here.
