Khan Abdul Rashid Khan is the ‘king’ or leader of Kyrgyz nomads community in Little Pamir. He was elected as the leader of Little Pamir after bringing back some of the tribes back to Pamir. In 1978, when Afghanistan was controlled by the communists, Rahmanqul Khan, the former leader of Little Pamir, brought all of the tribes in Little Pamir for exodus to Pakistan, and eventually to Turkey. But some two hundreds of people chose to come back to Pamir as they could not stand living as refugees in such unfriendly temperature and bad sanitary condition in Pakistan. Since then, Abdul Rashid becomes the khan for the people who still survive the life on the roof of the world.
